 Cardano ADA (September 2017)

Cardano is a decentralized blockchain platform that was launched in 2017 by the Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK) development team led by Charles Hoskinson, who was also one of the co-founders of Ethereum. Cardano aims to provide a more secure and sustainable blockchain platform by utilizing a proof-of-stake consensus algorithm called Ouroboros, which is designed to be more energy-efficient and secure than the proof-of-work algorithm used by Bitcoin.

One of the key features of Cardano is its focus on academic research and scientific rigor in its development process. Cardano is built using the Haskell programming language, which is known for its reliability and mathematical precision. The Cardano platform also incorporates a multi-layered architecture that separates the ledger of transactions from the computational layer, which is intended to provide greater flexibility and scalability.

Cardano has its own cryptocurrency, called ADA, which is used to power the network and pay for transaction fees. ADA can be stored in Cardano's native wallet called Daedalus or in other compatible wallets.

Cardano has been gaining traction in the cryptocurrency market and has become one of the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization. As with any cryptocurrency, investing in Cardano carries significant risks due to its volatile nature and the lack of regulation in the cryptocurrency market.
